The community of Kpetoroteng has no potable water. Their nearest source of water which they use for all domestic purposes are two nearby rivers which dries up before the end of the dry season. During this period, they must travel about 20km to a Baaobjon-a nearby community to buy water. Their initial sources of supply are at swampy areas which exposes them to snakebites whenever they go. A girl-child was lost to snakebite when she went to draw water from the first source at dawn. The sources of water are diseased and infested with spirogyra. They also must compete with animals for the same water, where the animals often urinate and defecate adding more serious contamination of the supply.
