Project Safe water borehole for Baasonkorah, Upper West Region
The Baasonkorah community of 156 suffer from guinea worm, cholera and sometimes bilharzia. These affect their economic activities because they are not able to do anything when they are ill. Lack of water drives the working youth into migration to the southern part of Ghana for greener pasture, therefore the older community members and children are left to wallow in extreme poverty and hunger. School going age children rather help their guardians and parents to search for water instead of going to school. In their search for water serious snake bites are always a risk.
The inhabitants result in digging sump holes to sustain their need for water until December. After the sump holes are dried up, they must walk to Sanuori, a nearby community to fetch water. This community is 6 kilometres walking distance.
Ghana Outlook would love to provide a safe water supply for the community. Can you help us?
