Orthopaedic Training Centre in Nsawam

The Orthopaedic Training Centre (OTC) is a non-profit organisation whose mission is enabling the handicapped in Ghana, mainly children, to gain independent and productive lives.

Ghana Outlook received an urgent request from OTC to ask for help in providing them with a safe water borehole. This came about following illegal mining in the area that has seriously contaminated the water supply causing severe illness and some deaths. The OTC was having to buy water at a great expense. Illegal mining has now become a serious issue in Ghana, with supplies being contaminated and river sources being redirected.

Ghana Outlook was fortunate to quickly raise the funds from its sources and is delighted to say that the project has now been completed successfully and normal operation of the centre as now returned.

GO has worked with the OTC on various projects in the past. The OTC sees over 6000 people a year, mainly children, which are helped at the Centre or receive the help they need from the mobile orthopaedic unit. The OTC currently has a full-time staff of 68 people, is all dedicated to make the OTC a place of hope for those who are physically challenged.
